The Center on Ethics and the University studies the relationship between personal virtue and democratic life in a free society, especially as understood in the natural law tradition. The Center supports independent scholarly projects in the social sciences, and in moral, political, and legal philosophy; organizes summer seminars in Princeton, New Jersey for students who wish to study these topics; and sponsors the creation of independent institutes near centers of higher learning that aim to reintroduce into academia free and serious inquiry into universal questions of truth, moral obligation, and the general purpose of human life.
